Sofa and upholstery cleaning in Hong Kong

Your sofa soaks up more than you'd think: skin oils, dust, food, pets. We clean fabric sofas and upholstery at your home or office, keeping a close eye on moisture.

Most people clean their floors far more often than the piece of furniture they sit on every day. Fabric sofas collect dust and skin oils that slowly dull the fabric and darken the arms and headrest areas. Pets and food add to the mix.

Upholstery we clean

  • Fabric sofas and sofa beds
  • Armchairs and ottomans
  • Dining chairs
  • Fabric headboards
  • Office chairs and reception seating
  • Removable cushion covers, cleaned in place when washing could shrink them

Velvet, silk, linen, and other delicate fabrics need extra care, so please send us a photo first. Leather needs a different approach too.

Common problems

  • Dark, shiny patches on arms and headrests, caused by body oils
  • Food and drink spills, especially from children
  • Pet hair and odours
  • Dust, particularly in textured fabrics
  • Musty smells after humid weather

How we clean a sofa

Check the fabric. We look at the care label if it has one, and test where needed.

Vacuum. We remove dry soil from the surfaces, seams and crevices.

Treat problem areas. Oils, food spots and marks are treated according to what's caused them.

Clean with controlled moisture. The aim is to clean the fabric without soaking the foam.

Dry. Sofa foam can hold water for a long time, particularly in humid weather. So we remove as much moisture as we can during the job, then advise you on airflow afterwards.

Why moisture control matters here

Over-wetting a sofa is a common mistake in humid places. Water soaks into the foam and takes far longer to dry than most people expect, which can lead to a musty smell. Dry weather helps, but in Hong Kong's humid months, air-conditioning or a dehumidifier usually makes the most difference. Keeping indoor humidity low also helps limit mould and dust mites, as we cover in our article on dust mites and allergies.

Cleaning a sofa and a carpet together

If you're having a carpet cleaned too, it usually makes sense to do it all on one visit. See residential carpet cleaning.

What affects the price

The number of seats, fabric, condition, stains and access. Published prices in Hong Kong are typically per sofa or per seat, as our cost guide shows.

What to send us

A photo of the whole sofa, the care label if you can find it, and close-ups of stains. Tell us if you have pets or if anything's been tried on the marks already.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a sofa take to dry?

It depends on the fabric, foam, weather and ventilation. Keep air moving, and don't sit on the sofa or use it until it has dried. Foam holds moisture, so careful control during cleaning matters a lot.

Do you clean leather sofas?

Leather needs different products and methods from fabric. Send us a photo and tell us what kind of leather it is, if you know, and we will tell you whether we can help.

What do the codes on sofa care labels mean?

W generally means water-based products can be used, S means solvent only, W/S means either, and X means vacuum only. The label is a useful guide, and we check it when there is one.

Can you remove pet smells from a sofa?

Often we can improve them significantly, but if urine has reached deep into the foam, cleaning the surface may not fully remove the smell. We will give you an honest view.
