How much does carpet cleaning cost in Hong Kong?
Published prices in Hong Kong run from about HK$1 to HK$30 per square foot. That sounds absurd until you see what's being priced. Here's what's behind the numbers.
There's no single price for carpet cleaning, so any honest answer starts with "it depends". We can at least show you what it depends on, and why two quotes for the same room can look so different.
What Hong Kong companies publish
We checked what cleaning companies and price guides in Hong Kong publish online. These are other companies' published figures from November 2026, not our prices. They're a sense of the market and they do change.
| What's being cleaned | Published prices seen |
|---|---|
| Fitted office or shop carpet | About HK$0.80–1.20 per sq ft, often with a minimum charge of around HK$1,500–2,000 |
| Individual rug | From about HK$350–400 per rug, depending on size and material |
| Rug-style deep cleaning priced by area | About HK$10–30 per sq ft |
| 2-seat fabric sofa | About HK$650–800 |
| 3-seat fabric sofa | About HK$800–1,000 |
| General price guides for carpet cleaning | About HK$500–3,000 per job |
Why the range is so wide
A gap of HK$1 to HK$30 per square foot looks like someone is overcharging. Usually, it reflects two different jobs:
Large, low-pile fitted carpet is fast. A technician can cover a big open office floor with a machine quite quickly, so the cost per square foot is low. The trade-off is the minimum charge, because a small room still needs the visit, the equipment and the travel.
Individual rugs are slow. A wool or hand-knotted rug has to be checked for colour stability, then treated carefully, then dried slowly. The area is small, but the labour isn't. Comparing that per square foot with an office floor doesn't tell you much.
So when you compare quotes, compare the method and what's included, not only the number.
What affects your price
Size. The most obvious factor, and the easiest to get wrong. Measure length and width at the longest points.
Fibre. Nylon and polypropylene are forgiving. Wool, silk, viscose and natural plant fibres need more care and sometimes different products.
Condition. A carpet cleaned regularly is much quicker than one that hasn't been touched in years. See our carpet deep cleaning page for what heavy soiling involves.
Stains and odour. Specific treatment for stains, pet urine or smoke takes extra time and products.
Furniture. Do desks, sofas and beds need to be moved, and by whom?
Building access. A walk-up with no lift, a goods lift that must be booked, or a building that only permits work after hours all add time. So can parking, particularly in the busiest districts.
Timing. Night-time, weekend and urgent work can cost more than a weekday slot, because it's harder to staff.
Getting a useful quote
The more we know, the firmer the number. Send us:
- The size, or photos with something for scale.
- What it is, if you know. A photo of the label or the backing helps if you don't.
- A full view and close-ups of any stains or worn areas.
- Your district and building type, including whether there's a lift.
- When you'd like it done, and whether there are restrictions.
You can send this to us using our quote form, or simply by WhatsApp.
Is the cheapest quote a bad idea?
Not always. For a large, low-pile office floor, a low rate may be perfectly fair. But before you accept any quote, it's worth asking:
- Which method will you use, and is it suited to this fibre?
- Does the price include vacuuming, spot treatment and rinsing?
- Are moving furniture, parking and after-hours work included?
- What happens if a stain doesn't come out?
- How long will it take to dry, and what do I need to do?
Anyone who knows their trade will be happy to answer. If you're weighing up whether to do it yourself, we compare the two in professional vs DIY carpet cleaning.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the price per square foot so different between companies?
Mostly because they are pricing different work. Large areas of low-pile fitted carpet are quick to clean per square foot. An individual wool rug takes far more hands-on time and care, so it costs much more for the same area.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Send photos and approximate measurements by WhatsApp or through our quote form, and we will reply with what we suggest and what it should cost.
Is there a minimum charge?
Many Hong Kong companies set a minimum for small jobs or a visit. Ask us when you enquire and we will tell you whether one applies to your job.
Will the price change once you see the carpet?
A quote from photos is based on what we can see and what you tell us. If the size, material or condition turns out to be very different, we will talk to you before going ahead, not after.
