Carpet cleaning questions, answered

General answers about booking, the cleaning itself, drying and stains. For a question about your own carpet, just send us a photo.

Booking and quotes

How do I get a quote?

Send us photos and rough measurements by WhatsApp or through the quote form. Tell us your district and whether there is a lift. In most cases that is enough to give you a clear idea of the cost.

Do you come out to look before quoting?

For most homes, photos are enough. For large offices or unusual jobs, we may suggest seeing the site first.

Which areas do you cover?

We work on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and in the New Territories. Tell us your district and we will confirm availability and access.

Do you clean for businesses as well as homes?

Yes. We clean for households, offices, shops and other commercial premises.

How much will it cost?

It depends on size, material, condition and access. Our cost guide explains why, and shows what other companies publish so you have a sense of the market.

Before the cleaning

Do I need to vacuum first?

No. Dry vacuuming is part of our process.

What should I move?

Please clear small items and anything fragile or valuable. Tell us about heavy furniture when you enquire so we can plan for it.

Do you need water and electricity?

Tell us if access to water or power could be a problem, such as in a vacant flat, so we can plan for it.

My building has rules for contractors. Is that a problem?

Not as long as we know in advance. Let us know about lift bookings, loading areas, and permitted working hours.

The cleaning itself

What is hot water extraction?

A cleaning method that injects hot water and a suitable cleaning solution into the carpet and immediately extracts it by vacuum, along with loosened dirt. It is what most people mean by steam cleaning.

Is it safe for wool?

Wool can be cleaned safely, but it needs care: suitable products, lower temperatures and careful drying. We check the rug first, and we adjust the method or advise against cleaning if it isn't suitable.

Are your products safe for pets and children?

Ask us about the products we plan to use for your job, especially if someone at home has allergies or sensitivities. Keep children and pets off the carpet until it has dried.

Do you clean sofas too?

Yes, we clean fabric sofas and upholstery. Check the care label if there is one, and send us a photo of it. Leather and some delicate fabrics need different care.

Drying

How long does the carpet take to dry?

It depends on fibre, thickness, weather and ventilation. Thin synthetic carpet in a well-aired room can dry within hours, while thick wool in damp spring weather can take much longer. We will give you an idea for your job.

How can I help it dry faster?

Keep air moving with fans and use air-conditioning or a dehumidifier. On humid days, keep windows closed, because opening them can let in more moisture than they let out.

When can I put the furniture back?

When the carpet and backing are fully dry. Use foil or plastic under wooden or metal legs for a little while afterwards to prevent marks.

Stains and odours

Can you guarantee a stain will come out?

No. Many stains respond well, but it depends on what the stain is, how long it has been there, the fibre, and what has already been used on it. We will give you an honest view first.

What should I do right after a spill?

Blot with a clean white cloth. Do not rub. Avoid bleach and strong household chemicals, because these can permanently remove colour.

Can you remove pet urine smell?

Often, yes, but it depends how deep it has gone. If urine has reached the underlay or floor, cleaning the carpet surface may not fully remove the smell. We will discuss what is realistic.

My carpet smells musty. Is it mould?

It might be. A musty smell often points to moisture in the carpet or underneath it. Cleaning helps only if the source of the damp is dealt with as well. If there is a lot of visible mould, or water is getting in, sort that out first.

Care between cleans

How often should I clean my carpet?

Vacuum regularly, and have it professionally cleaned about every 12 to 18 months in a typical home. Choose more frequent cleans if you have pets, children or allergies, or if the carpet is in a busy area.

How can I protect carpet in humid months?

Keep indoor humidity under control using air-conditioning or a dehumidifier, keep air moving, deal with spills quickly, and avoid leaving damp items on the carpet.

Have a question that isn't here?

Ask us. Photos help us give you a straight answer.

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 6 MB each. A full view and a close-up of any stains help most.
